Bioelectrical Impedence Analysis (BIA)

We are pleased to now be able to offer, as a new service at Toronto-Centre Naturopathic Medicine, bioelectrical impedence analysis (BIA). Bioelectrical impedence analysis is a non-invasive and safe tool that can be used to measure and calculate a variety of anthropometric (body composition) parameters in seconds.

BIA works by the passing of a mild electrical current between two electrodes placed at your hands and feet. Measurement of the body’s “resistance” and “reactance” to this current, combined with information on your height, weight and sex can be used to determine information concerning body-fat levels, hydration status, cellular health, etc.

Information gleaned by BIA is intended to be used to track progress towards health goals through repeated assessments over time. It is a useful means of evaluating effectiveness of weight management and exercise programs, cleansing (depuration) protocols, preventative health and health optimization programs (particularly when a person is symptom-free) and general progress towards improved wellness.

To ensure an accurate result, please ensure that for the 12 hours preceding your assessment, you avoid:

· Exercise

· Sauna

· Alcohol or coffee consumption

· Any other behaviours that contribute to dehydration

Initial BIA assessment requires a 30-minutes consultation, and follow-up assessments can be completed in 15-minutes.

Please contact Toronto-Centre Naturopathic Medicine to book a consultation.
